Deceased was intending to fire a shot in the top caunch of a crossheading in longwall workings, and was withdrawing timber. He was knocking out a prop from underneath the plank set near the face of the canch, when the roof fell to a well-defined slip on the righthand side of the crossheading. He was seriously crushed, and died the following day.
