Fall of roof at a face road end; a stone 7feet, by 4feet 3ins. by 1foot 3ins, fell as it was being sounded and tested by the fireman. The previous shift had not long left the place, and had been ripping the roof at this spot. The stone was surrounded by slants and slips, and should have been taken down by the previous shift. A collier was badly injured by the fall which proved fatal to the fireman. Six Feet Seam. Safety lamps.
