Deceased was getting down some top coal, while his drawer was wedging up the bottom coal, when a small piece of steel flew off the end of the wedge and severed the main artery of Edge's arm. The bleeding was promptly stopped, but septic poisoning supervened, and caused his death thirteen days later. A small piece of steel was afterwards found in the wound.
