- Details of Event
- Deceased worked in a solid place 6yd. wide going to the rise in the Main Band, which is hers 7ft thick. The roof in the district is generally good but in this place the presence of several glassy slips and small hitches had caused some timber to be used which was set by special men known as joiners. Notwithstanding the timber set a large stone fell between the last pair of gears at the face. There was not sufficient timber near the place although there was plenty at the bank head some distance away. It would have been prudent considering the character of the roof to have had supports nearer the face.
