He was bannocking at the face when he apparently liberated the corner of a piece of roof stone or ripping at a slip this stone, which measured 5 feet by 3 feet by 2 feet thick, fell upon and killed him. The ripping had been got down rather close to the face by the previous shift and there was a canch in the left side as well as the front. He ought to have seen a slip which was running into the face and either supported the stone or got it down and in not doing so he and his mate committed a grave error of judgement.
