- Details of Event
- Fall of a piece of coal which he had holed 3.5 feet deep for a length of four yards. Apparently, from the evidence given at the inquest, he had drawn out one or two sprags, with the result that a portion (not very large) fell from a sooty parting which was subsequently noticed. The place had been well spragged. He was struck between the shoulders and on his neck which caused haemorrhage on the spinal cord.
