- Details of Event
- Deceased was at work at the bottom quarry about 110 feet in depth within a few feet of a practically vertical face when about ‘a barrow load’ of small stones fell from the tirr or the rotten rock immediately underneath it. One of the stones struck him on the top of the head fracturing his skull and killing him almost instantly. Apart from the labour of dragging the stones out there appeared to be no reason why the drillers should work so close to the quarry face.
