Deceased was knocking down an iron stake at the end of a sleeper on the surface railway, when the hammer head flew off, and his first and second fingers on the left hand were crushed between the rail and the hammer shaft. He continued to work for four days, but blood-poisoning supervened, and he died in Hospital on the 30th November.
