9 July 1928: Bo'ness Miner Killed - Thomas Duffy (28), bencher, was yesterday killed in the main coal section of the Furnaceyard Pit of Kinneil Collieries. An empty hutch swept down a steep incline, and Duffy was knocked down and terribly injured. Death was instantaneous. Two workmates narrowly escaped. Deceased was unmarried, and lived at Castleloan.
