Died 24th December. Inquest held. Statements were made that deceased had received an injury in the pit that had led to his death. On enquiry no confirmation of this was forthcoming and the coroner (who neglected to send me notice of the inquest) informed me that the evidence showed death resulted from pneumonia and so the jury found.
