He and another were filling a kibble whilst a full one was being dawn to the shaft by a rope the end of which was taken round a thimble and then spliced into the rope, instead of the more usual plan of having a socket. Deceased was standing on the open shaft bottom. The spliced end pulled out of the rope, and the laden kibble fell on to him.
