- Details of Event
- He was struck on the head by a stone from a shot which caused his death 12 hours afterwards. He was 85 yards away from the shot and sheltering behind a large tree. The Special Rules were not satisfactorily carried out at this quarry as the men should either have gone further away or gone into shelters in the quarry but like the ostrich they hid their heads and thought their bodies were consequently protected.
