- 26 December 1923: Serious Accident At Gordon Pit – William Dow, miner, Perth Road, Cowdenbeath, was seriously injured in the Gordon Pit, Cowdenbeath on Wednesday. Dow was on a wheel brae when the chain broke, and before he could get into a manhole he was caught by two runaway hutches. Two of his ribs were fractured while he received injuries to one of his shoulders. [Dunfermline Journal 29 December 1923]
