2 December 1937: Explosion At Arniston Colliery - Two men, Findlay White (27), Newlandrigg, Gorebridge, and Matthew Douglas (30), Robertson Bank, Gorebridge, were admitted to the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, yesterday, suffering from burning injuries as a result of a gas explosion in Arniston Colliery, the property of the Arniston Colliery Co.
