25 August 1941: Miner Fatally Injured - John Douglas, miner, Castle Street, Sanquhar, was severely injured by a heavy fall of stone in Gateside Colliery, Sanquhar, yesterday. He was conveyed to Dumfries Infirmary, and he died a few hours after admission. He was 40 years of age, and leaves a wife and three children. [Scotsman 26 August 1941]
