- Roof fall. John Douglas, miner, aged about 50, who resided at 13 Hayford Square, Cambusbarron, had almost finished his shift in No 1 Pit, Millhall Colliery, on Monday morning when he was trapped by a fall of stone from the roof and fatally injured. His workmates hurriedly extricated him and carried him to the pit bottom with the utmost speed. He succumbed to his injuries, however, before the pithead was reached. The pit was idle for the remainder of the day. Douglas was a married man and leaves a wife and grown up family. (Stirling Observer).
