Deceased and another hewer after filling loose coals at the face of a lift in the broken workings in the Low Main Seam in the undersea workings were in the act of setting a prop when a thickness of 3ft of the roof suddenly fell. The place had been properly inspected. The Local Inspectors reported that they thought the accident to be quite accidental and quite unforeseen, to be one purely accidental.
