- Whilst filling a tab at the coal face, he was caught by a fall of roof 6 feet by 3 feet and having an average thickness of 9 inches. The fall was caused by a sudden weight which burst a quantity of coal off the face. The coal knocked three props out, and two slips were exposed by the face. He died on the 23rd November.
