The deceased were taking out pillar in a 4foot seam and were engaged in kirving in the coal when both coal and stone above it came away for a length of 13 feet and fell upon them, killing them on the spot. They had undercut beyond a breaker which liberated the fall, and apparently had not set sufficient sprags to the face, which was overhanging at the start. 2 killed.
