A springing shot of about 0.5lb gunpowder was fired. No hole was drilled but a crack was cleared of material the powder inserted and loosely covered. Proper warning was given. Deceased was 55 yd in a direct line from the shot and did not leave his place and was struck by a piece of whinstone weighing about 5lb.
