Deceased was engaged in trailing ore from a hopper, or shoot. The hopper is an inclined plane over 100 feet long, at an angle of about 45 degrees. During the course of the shift he went up the hopper a distance of 10 or 12 feet to liberate some ore which had stuck. By some means he slipped into the hopper, and was covered by fine ore and was suffocated. He was alone at the time, and was not missed until upwards of an hour later.
