He and others were working at the bottom of a quarry when a large fall of ground (2,000 tons) occurred suddenly and without warning. The others escaped, but deceased having a stiff leg was unable to get clear. I should like to see the system of working altered to a safer one, but it is alleged that they have been unable to arrive at any other method of a practicable kind which would enable them to work the Quarries in view of the competition which exists. The matter has been before the owners for some years, and has, I believe, been carefully considered. I still hope they will be able to arrive at some safer method.
