While deceased was in the act of coupling tubs at a flat in the Brockwell seam a large stone fell from the roof right across the place upon him. The stone appeared to be supported by a baulk under its centre which was in turn resting on a prop at each end; one set on the floor and the other on a caunch. There appeared to be some likelihood that one of the props had been displaced possibly by being struck by pony's limbers. The Local Inspectors reported that in their opinion the occurrence was purely accidental.
