1 dead & 15 Injured. Through the racing of the winding engine, a cage containing sixteen men was over-run and dashed into the sump of the pit, injuring all the occupants, one of whom later succumbed to his injuries. Due to the engineman, Smith, probably in a moment of mental aberration, over-running his engine and so causing the overwind. Deceased died the same day.
