- 5 December 1933: Two Miners Injured - Entombed by Fall of Coal in a Blantyre Colliery - Two miners were injured when a fall of coal occurred in the section of the Blantyre Ferm Colliery in which they were working. The men, Robert Russell (41), 68 Hamilton Road, Cambuslang, and William Delaney, Clover Terrace , Uddingston, were working in the section when, without warning, there was a fall of coal from the roof, completely entombing them. Other miners who were working nearby rushed to extricate the men. Both were unconscious when rescued. After treatment Russell, who was injured about the back, was taken home, but Delaney, who was seriously injured about the body, was removed to the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow. [Scotsman 5 December 1933]
