In roadway at bottom of self-acting incline a big crump from settlement of roof canted an iron girder which carried two other girders so that three girders were displaced, and a large quantity of small dirt which had been put on the lagging or covering timber fell on the two young men. Dawes was suffocated. If anyone had known how to apply first aid his life might have been saved.
