A putter was taking off about 1 foot of aide coal in a cross-cut to straighten it. Whilst deceased was walking past the putter a piece of stone, weighing 10cwts., fell from the side of the canch and knocked two props out, one of which struck deceased and fractured his skull. He died in the hospital on 10th December. The putter was 18 years of age and had not examined the stone; the officials should have sent a more experienced man to do the work.
