After setting two temporary props he was sawing off the end of a bar which interfered with the building of a pack when three tons of roof fell knocking out all the timber and burying him. The roof had been standing on timber many years. It had been examined by the deputy an hour before the fall and reported sale. There had been no movement and no one was to blame.
