- He was 4 yards in the bank throwing ripping dirt into the gate side pack, when a long piece of bind weighing 13 cwt. Fell between the rows of props and crushed his head. The ripping was blown down 8 feet in advance of the packs and probably the shots had affected the roof in the bank. The stone had only been examined 5 minutes before. Systematic barring would have prevented this accident.
