- Details of Event
- On a self-acting incline 48 yards in length, and having a gradient of 1 in 2, a rope 5-8in. diameter snapped at a distance of 47 ft. from the capping, while one empty and one loaded tram was at meetings. The lad at foot of the incline was killed by the runaway tram. Probably sharp braking by the banksman was the cause of the rope snapping.
