When clearing a fall on a roadway pouncing and squeezing was heard and the man was withdrawn to a place of safety 50 yards away. Soon afterwards a cloud of dust and a large quantity of firedamp came back on the men but they all succeeded in making their escape except Davies who was suffocated.
