He was employed hitching trams on the endless rope haulage near the shaft but had, for some reason not explained gone a little way up the tramroad and was crushed or ran over by a tram running back in consequence of the clip becoming detached probably as suggested by the master haulier through the hole in the draw bar being worn large thus facilitating detachment.
