- Details of Event
- Deceased and other boys were making their way to the shaft to go home. The rope started to work, and one of the boys, after putting his foot on one of them, said that the journey had passed out. This seemed to satisfy the boys, who continued their way out until overtaken by the outgoing journey which ran over deceased. His leg had to be amputated, and he never recovered consciousness after the operation. The road was in excellent condition, and was well provided with manholes.
