- Three empty trams were being lowered by a rope down a road dipping 12 ins per yard, when the front tram got off the rails. Deceased and two other riders uncoupled the last two empties and got them in a siding nearby, intending to attach the rope to the tram that was off the rails. Before the third rider brought the rope back, deceased and the other rider succeeded in putting the front wheels of the tram on the rails. It then ran down the road uncontrolled, jumped off the rails and crushed deceased who had run in front of it, against a full tram. It was a most unwise thing to interfere with the tram until the rope was attached to it.
