Deceased was engaged at the longwall face in the Main Coal seam attempting to get down some of the bottom coal with an iron bar, when a portion of the black shale and top coal, which was supported by sprags, suddenly fell from a smooth parting, displacing one of the sprags, and fatally injuring deceased.
