Details of Event
Deceased was a tipper at the rubbish shoot where the colliery rubbish is tipped into railway wagons. Seven empty wagons, with certain brakes down were standing above the shoot, when the rider was seen to be bringing in a fresh string of wagons behind these. Deceased told his mate to put a scotch in front of the second wagon while be went round the front end of the first wagon to put the brake down. When the bump occurred the wagons moved forward and deceased was found with his leg under the front wheel. Injuries to the lower hart of the body showed that he must have been just about to sit on the brake handle when the bump occurred.
