Whilst he was working at the coal face, a stone similar to a pothole and measuring 4 feet 1 inch by 2 feet 10 inches by 6 inches fell on him from a slippy parting and fractured his spine. The roof from which the stone fell was timbered to within 3 feet of the coal. He died on 28th August, 1913.
