During the ascent of the loaded kibble in a sinking shaft Ashburne was struck by a stone supposed to come from the kibble. This shaft was exceptionally well protected doors are placed on the pit top and both ends of the pit are covered leaving only the winding shaft in the middle open where no one ought to have been during the ascent of the loaded kibble.
