Run over by a journey of three trams through the opening of a knot in the haulage rope. A defect had been observed in the rope and as the splice man could not attend to it the fireman out it and knotted the two ends. The road dipped 8 inches per yard and it was very imprudent to trust a knot in a rope with a load of 4.5 tons attached to it.
