- Details of Event
- This boy was working his first shift as a horse-leader. He was leading the horse down a slight incline when the driver put sprags into the tub wheels. He lost his light but continued to hold on to the horse. When the driver arrived at the stopping place, he found the boy underneath the first tub. It is difficult to say how the boy came to be under the tub as the road was in good condition and there were no obstacles in the way. Being new to underground work and having lost his light, he would probably be alarmed and may have stumbled and fallen. The employment of boys as horse-leaders is undesirable.
