- He and another man were coming out-bye at the end of the shift and in doing so met a long train of empty tubs being lowered on the engine plane. When within 15 yards of the out-bye of the train the tubs checked and startled the men. The other man got into the refuge hole for safety and asked the deceased to come in but he stood in the full road opposite the refuge hole gazing at the empty tubs when a set of five full tubs came up behind him knocked him down ran over him and killed him on the spot. The haulage road is a good one with the refuge holes within the required distance.
