He had just completed the retimbering of a heavy junction and had withdrawn the temporary middle legs from under the cross bars when a sudden weight ran out the carrier bar and he was pinned beneath the timber and a little dirt. Before he could he extricated a further heavy fall occurred from under which his body was recovered after four hours labour. The early withdrawal of the middle legs may have contributed to the accident.
