The accident occurred near the lower end of a self-acting incline. A wooden bar had become depressed under roof pressure. Deceased, under the immediate supervision of the overman, was engaged in stamping a foot hole for a post under the bar which broke suddenly, and about 20 tons of roof fell killing deceased.
