- 6 August 1933: Killed By Falling Stone - A miner named James Currie, who resided at 40 Strathie Terrace, Stoneyburn, lost his life in an accident in Loganlea Colliery, West Calder. He was engaged in cutting coal when a large stone fell from the roof and crushed him. Death was instantaneous. The deceased leaves a widow and grown-up family. [Scotsman 7 August 1933]
