He was employed by a contractor and along with another man was engaged in drilling holes in a canch a few yards back from the face of a gateway, preparatory to blasting down the roof. One hole had been drilled, and deceased was marking up the second hole, when a stone fell from the roof behind him and killed him. The stone fell away between a joint at the left side (which had been visible for several yards) and a break at right angles to it. It was stated that there was a prop under the stone immediately before the accident, but no such prop was afterwards found.
