- One of the boilers at the coke ovens had been emptied of water and owing to a drain, through which it should have flowed being blocked up, the man holes of the drain were filled with water and the loose boards on the top of them were floated off and the water ran over the railway. Deceased was walking by the side of the railway and stepped onto one of the manholes and the water being hot he was scalded so severely that he died at Sheffield Infirmary on the 15th inst.
