14 December 1935 Miner Fatally Injured By Fall of Debris - George Cranston, miner, who resided at Thorndean, Omoa Road, Cleland, was fatally injured while at work in the Humph coal section of Broomside Colliery, Motherwell, on Saturday afternoon, being buried by a fall of debris. He was extricated after two hours work by a rescue party, but life was found to be extinct. Deceased leaves a widow and family. [Scotsman 16 December 1935]
