Deceased was bannocking in the clod above the Six Feet Coal when he exposed a slip running along the face, which liberated from the roof a large piece of rock, 7.5ft long by 6ft wide, and 1ft. thick. The rock fell on him and fractured his spine, from which he died on 9th August. One prop was reeled out, and two lids broken off by the fall.
