He was starting a 6-cylinder tandem compound single acting steam engine, driving a 200 B.H.P. generator. He seems to have tried steam first and, finding the engine on centre, proceeded to turn it a little by using a bar in the slots provided in the flywheel for the purpose. Unfortunately he forgot to turn off the steam and as soon as he moved the engine it started away, felling him with the bar.
