22 November 1934: Bathgate Man Buried by Roof Fall - Joseph Cowley (57), brusher 48 Easton Road, Bathgate, was fatally injured about 12.30am yesterday in Easton Pit, belonging to Wm Baird & Company (Ltd.) Cowley had been in the act of putting in a prop in his working place when a fall from the roof occurred. He was buried under the debris and was killed instantaneously.
